Landscaped by marshes and grasslands that
alternate with rocky hillsides and acacia woodland along
with the Makalia Waterfalls and the Euphobia forest, the
Lake Nakuro National Park makes for a pretty picture.
Location
Situated next to the Nakuro town in central Kenya, it can be
reached through an airstrip road connection from Nairobi.
There is also a runway at Naishi.
Climate As Lake Nakuro National Reserve receives about
965mm of annual rainfall, the climatic conditions vary from
hot and humid, hot and dry to cold.
Wild Life Attractions
Home to a variety of wildlife, the Lake Nakuro National Park
has over 56 species including the white rhinoceros and
carnivores like lions and leopards. It also has a rich bird
life comprising of flamingoes, pelicans and 450 more
species.
Things to Do
Besides game viewing and bird watching, one can go camping;
visit the viewpoints at Baboon cliff, Lion hills and Out of
Africa, admire the Makalia waterfalls and go picnicking.
Accommodation
Accommodation is provided by the way of special and public
campsites lodges like the Enjoro campsite and two lodges-
the Lake Nakuru lodge and the Sarevo Lion Hill Lodge. Also
tourists can stay at the Nakuru field study center, hostels
and guesthouses.
