An example of true wilderness, the
Bisanandi National Reserve was opened in 1979 with a total
area of 606 sq km. in the Eastern Province, in Isiolo
district. The landscape is mostly thornbush that changes
into swamps and palm tree forests near the banks of Tana
River.
Location
Bisanandi National Reserve shares its border with the Meru
National Park and can be reached through Korbessa where
there is an airstrip. Climate
Since it is mostly hot and dry, loose cotton clothing
appropriate for camping is recommended. Wild life Attractions
One can see wild elephants, buffaloes and giraffes,
especially during the rainy seasons.
Things to do
There is a special campsite for visitors. People can indulge
in game viewing.
Accommodation There are no provisions for accommodation within
the Bisanandi National Reserve.
